ETIMO – MALMADUR – VERTICAL WAVES PROJECT<\/span><\/strong>

<\/p>

A future, submerged Venice, doomed to be abandoned due to the impossibility of living there. An Atlantis of winged lions and BnBs, golden masks, and mosaics shimmering on the water\u2019s bottom.
Sommersa<\/strong> is the beginning of a performative investigation into the future of the city: Venice is suspended in an amniotic fluid, fixed in a collective memory that, over time, becomes confused with its own stereotype.
An immersive video becomes the context in which voices and bodies interact with space and spectators; an aquatic void that leads to a state of apnea, where contemplative fascination and fear blend together.
A durational performance that tackles the eternal present of a drowning city.<\/p>

Etimo, Malmadur, and Vertical Waves Project are three entities that respectively deal with audiovisuals, theater, and dance: thanks to their participation in the KILL THE MOONLIGHT project of the AIKU Center of the Ca\u2019 Foscari University Foundation in Venice, they had the opportunity to blend their languages in a shared artistic exploration.
The event evening conceived for KTM presents a project that re-narrates Venice’s future, in the short circuit between its constant sameness in an environment growing more fragile due to the climate crisis and mass tourism.
Sommersa<\/strong> is the first study.
